Once you reach the top level within your organization, it is imperative that you have high level of emotional level. Although your technical background and skills may have brought you to this level but having good grip over your emotional intelligence is going to be a key factor in your success from here on.
Our Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire (EIQ3D) is an innovative online assessment of emotional intelligence, rigorously developed and based on a comprehensive model of emotional intelligence.
Emotional intelligence is somewhat unusual in psychology, as the majority of writers and researchers are in agreement as to its definition, at least at the broadest level. Daniel Goleman (1996, 1998) has probably influenced the definition of emotional intelligence more than any other writer, due to the popularity of his books on the subject, though he draws heavily on the landmark work of Salovey and Mayer who previously defined emotional intelligence as:
“The ability to monitor one’s own and other’s emotions, to discriminate among them, and to use the information to guide one’s thinking and actions” (1990, p189).
Our Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire (EQ3D), developed by Dr Roy Childs and Agnus McDonald, shifts the focus from IQ and personality towards the effects that self-awareness has on performance.
However, EQ3D is not just another Emotional Intelligence questionnaire. It redefines the field into Personal Intelligence, Relational Intelligence and Situational Intelligence. It goes beyond the limitations of understanding the self and others to understanding the context in which people operate.
Personal Focus | Relational Focus | Situational Focus | |
Knowledge | Self Awareness How well do I understand and value myself? | Social Awareness How well do I understand and value others? | Situational Awareness How well do I understand and value different groups and cultures? |
Management | Self Management How well do I manage myself and my emotions? | Social Management How well do I manage others and their difficulties? | Situational Management How well do I manage diverse and changing circumstances? |
Motivation | Self Motivation How well do I inspire myself to grow and contribute? | Social Motivation How well do I inspire others to grow and contribute? | Situational Motivation How well do I create a sustainable change climate? |
Increasing your emotional ‘knowledge and literacy’ can clarify vision, increase flexibility and help to build stronger & lasting relationships.
The EIQ3D also addresses the critical weakness of such questionnaires – that self-report is a poor way to measure self-awareness! A unique feature of EIQ3D is the paired assessment – the ‘3D’ aspect – which allows another person to comment on an individual’s emotional intelligence. The combination of a thorough coverage of emotional intelligence, and the ability to include more than one perspective, gives the EIQ3D a useful role in numerous areas of personal development.
